Hi, beautiful people! If you heard a very loud scream coming from the East Village on June 26, 2015, it was me. When I returned from work and turned on the radio, I learned that SCOTUS had struck down the remaining ban on same-sex marriage. I was, and still am, very excited and encouraged by this civil rights victory.
Ever since I started my business as a freelance makeup artist almost five years ago, I have done makeup and hair for many same-sex weddings. Most of these weddings are with female couples, but just this year we, the SB Beauty team, have done makeup and hair for the “best gals” and moms of two men marrying. Love this trend, and can’t wait to book more of the weddings!
My friend (and client!) Brittny Drye is editor and publisher of the super-chic Love Inc magazine, a fashion and lifestyle glossy that celebrates all marriages, equally. For a few years I was hinting and hoping that she would ask me to do a shoot with her for the mag, and this spring, I got the call.
She assembled a crack team and gathered incredible gowns for our shoot at Alder Manor in Yonkers. I was given creative license, so I played with texture, strobing, glow, and summer palettes.
The day was extremely sticky, and we had a massive rainstorm, so I kept the foundation sheer. Using all Beauty Addicts Cosmetics, I blended bronzers and blush onto the eyes, relied on strobing and bronzer on the cheeks, and even played with the highlighter as a lipstick. Smudging, blending, mixing, and playing – it was a fun day for me.
Please enjoy the results of our collaboration. Thanks!
